James Wyman Obituary
Wyman, James Thomas Age 88, of Woodland died peacefully in his home December 19, 2008 surrounded by his family. He was born April 9, 1920 in Minneapolis. Jim was a graduate of The Blake School and Yale University. He served in the Navy as a Lt. JG in WWII. Jim married the love of his life, Elizabeth Winston, on May 6, 1950. A prominent Minneapolis business man, he was the President and Chairman of the Board of SuperValu. He served on numerous boards including First National Bank of Minneapolis, Green Giant, NSP, Marshall & Winston, Inc and Portland Cement. He was an active member of Wayzata Community Church where he served in many capacities, including moderator. Jim was an avid tennis player and Vikings fan. He played hockey at Yale and continued to enjoy hockey watching his sons and grandchildren play. He enjoyed many wonderful times at The Beaver Bay, Woodhill, and Hillsboro Clubs. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betts. He is loved and will be dearly missed by his three children, Elizabeth Wyman Wilcox of Seattle, James C. Wyman and wife Kathlyn of Wayzata, and Steven M. Wyman and wife Margaret of Denver; 3 grand- children, Lauren Elizabeth Wyman, James Thomas Wyman and Sarah McChesney Wyman. Private family services will be held at Wayzata Community Church and Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Wayzata Community Church or donor's choice.
