Jane Hall Obituary Jane Allen Dayton Hall, 92, whose laughter and zest for life, love and adventure was contagious, died peacefully at home November 22, 2017 surrounded by family. A long time resident of Deephaven, MN, Jane was born in Great Barrington, MA on June 9, 1925. She is preceded in death by her first husband of 30 years Leonard V. Dayton, second husband of 30 years James L. Hall, loving companion Thomas V. Markle, parents Clara Louise and Byron Allen, and brother Robert Allen. A leader, business woman, volunteer, philanthropist, social and community activist, Janes involvement was widespread and served many organizations including: The United Way, Red Cross, Junior League, Greater Minneapolis Girl Scouts, and politics at both the local and state levels. She was President of Broadcast Communications, Chicago, IL and a trustee of Rockford College, but she was most proud of being a founding member of Minneapolis Childrens Hospital. She was a lifelong member of Plymouth Congregational Church and her love of music inspired her enthusiastic support for Plymouths VocalEssence music program. Jane steered her own course in life in all she did, sure of her decisions and always looking forward. Life was about LIVING in the grandest way. A lover of Encampment Forest, sailing, fly-fishing, hunting, golf, bridge, and a good ball game, all brought to light her gap-toothed smile. Though her accolades are many, there is perhaps no greater achievement than the family she created. Jane is survived by children: Lindsay Berryman (Jim), Anne Hoffman (Ron), Meredith Olson (Tom), Richard Dayton (Patty), Rachel Dayton (Chip), and Leonard V. Dayton, Jr. (Beth); stepchildren, Joan Mork (Bruce) and Mark Hall (Sharon); 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; brother Byron Allen (Mable Ann), Sister-in law Jean Allen and many nieces and nephews. Janes life will be celebrated on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm, Plymouth Congregational Church, 1900 Nicollet Ave. Minneapolis. Parking available in LaSalle lot.
