Jeanne Anderson Obituary
Jeanne Rodgers Anderson passed away quietly in her sleep while attended by members of her loving family and devoted caregivers on December 22, 2010. She was born Florence Jeanne Rodgers on June 3, 1922 in Pulaski, Iowa. She later moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and then to Davenport, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1940. She attended and graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids where she met her life partner, Kenny Anderson. They were married in Williamsburg, Virginia on October 2, 1943 while Kenny was in the Navy. After the War, they settled in the Minneapolis area where they remained. Jeanne was active in a number of organizations including P.E.O. and Abbott-Northwestern Hospital Auxiliary, where she was intimately involved with the gift shop. She was also active in her community as a board member of the Lafayette Club. She and Kenny were both longtime members and strong supporters of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and Rolling Acres. Jeanne loved to play golf and tennis, and thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge even during her final illness. She also loved being with her potluck group of 63 years, especially at Lake Washburn. Jeanne had a wonderful sense of humor, which she kept to the end. She is survived by her two sons, Greg and Doug, and their spouses, Marlene and Anne, respectively; her grandson, Brady; her sister, Elly, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Friday May 20, 2011 at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, and memorials should go to Mount Olivet, 5025 Knox Avenue, Minneapolis MN 55419.
