Jeanne Marie Young (Jean)

Corcoran, MN - Jeanne Marie Young, known lovingly to family and friends as Jean, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at her home in Corcoran, Minnesota, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 79 years old.

Jean was born on July 17, 1946, in Long Lake, Minnesota, where she grew up surrounded by the warmth of small-town life and the beauty of the lakes of Minnesota she would cherish for a lifetime. From her earliest years, Jean possessed a generous spirit, an infectious kindness, and a heart that seemed to have no limit in its capacity to love.At just seventeen years old, Jean began her career at Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator in Wayzata. What started as a young woman's first job became a lifelong vocation, as Jean worked her way through numerous positions within the company over the years, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues along the way. It was at Northwestern Bell, affectionately known as Ma Bell, that Jean's professional life and personal life became beautifully intertwined. There she met Richard A. Young, a fellow lifer at the company, and the two fell deeply in love. On June 22, 1984, their romance blossomed into a marriage that would become the foundation of a beautiful family and a lifetime of shared memories.Jean was, by all accounts, one of the kindest and most lovable people anyone could ever hope to meet. She was the kind of woman who would help anybody with anything, never hesitating to offer her time, her energy, or her heart to those who needed it. She possessed a beautiful mind, a beautiful soul, and a beautiful heart that loved to the fullest. Those who were fortunate enough to know her understood that her warmth was not a performance but a genuine reflection of who she was at her very core. To her daughter, she was simply the best momma ever, a sentiment echoed by everyone who witnessed the devotion she poured into her family.Jean found joy in life's simple and meaningful pleasures. She was an avid reader who could lose herself in a good book, and she loved watching movies and sharing her favorite soap operas with her daughter, a cherished tradition that bonded them across the years. She was an enthusiastic shopper who delighted in a good outing to the stores. Perhaps most of all, Jean loved spending time at the family's lake place in Bemidji, where the quiet waters and open skies provided the perfect backdrop for the thing she treasured above all else: being with her family. Whether it was gatherings with loved ones or reunions with her best girlfriends from school, Jean was happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved.Jean also had a profoundly tender heart for animals. Her fur babies, as she called them, held a special place in her life. Dogs, rabbits, and all manner of creatures great and small found a friend and protector in Jean, whose compassion extended to every living thing.Though Jean lived a quiet life centered on family, she was deeply generous in her support of others. She was a dedicated donor to organizations supporting Vietnam veterans and contributed faithfully to numerous other groups serving those in need, reflecting her belief that kindness should always be put into action.Jean is preceded in death by her father, Gordon R. Wolsfeld; her mother, Betty L. (Peterson) Wolsfeld Kinney; her sister, Linda L. (Wolsfeld) Jimenez; and other beloved family who have gone before us.Jean is survived by her husband, Richard A. Young; her daughter, Cheryl L. Domalik; her sister, Carol E. (Wolsfeld) Stalcar; her brother, Steve F. Wolsfeld; her brother-in-law, Joseph Jimenez; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.Jean's faith was a quiet and steady light throughout her life. May she now rest in the eternal peace and grace of the Lord she served with a gentle heart. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is at peace and that, one day, they will be reunited with her in God's loving presence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Anne's Catholic Church in Hamel, Minnesota, 200 Hamel Rd, Hamel, MN 55340. A reception and visitation will follow in the church basement, where a lunch will be served. All who knew and loved Jean are welcome to gather in her memory.In the words of her daughter, who spoke for the entire family: "Momma, I love you to the moon and back, and I love you all to pieces. I cannot wait until we meet again."
