Joan Henriksson Obituary Joan Babcock (Vinton) Henriksson, 82, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on October 7, 2022 in Maple Lake, MN only two months after being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.
Joan was born March 30, 1940 in Detroit, MI, to Robert J. Vinton and Madeline Drummond (Babcock) Vinton. She graduated from Birmingham High School in MI. She was a wife, mother of four children, an active community member, and her most important identity: a follower of Jesus Christ. In her younger years she was an active golfer, bowler and enjoyed camping. She was a passionate gardener, bird enthusiast, and avid fisherwoman. Joan loved people and showed her care by spending time with those around her. She especially had a deep unconditional love for her family who knew she was a phone call away with any news big or small. Her church family was also very important to her. She volunteered regularly at food pantries and participated on the sewing team for a local passion play presented every year called Behold the Lamb. For twenty years she was the chief wreath maker and coordinator for her daughters Christmas tree farm. She loved to play games - card games, board games, yard games. She was affectionately known as Nana to her ten grandchildren and one great grandson. She will be remembered for her tenacity, her quick wit, her ability to see the good in people, and how well she loved and cared for others.
Joan is survived by daughters Susan (Paul) Stinn of Maple Lake, MN, Kathryn (Dan) Turnacliff of Rogers, MN and son Keith (Kristen) Cornila of Dunstable, MA, along with her ten grandchildren Tyler (Bri) Stinn, Rebecca (Mike) Dehnbostel, Alyssa Molnar, Nathan Molnar, Emma (Chris) Pliska, Mason Cornila, Grace Cornila, Katy Turnacliff, Abby Turnacliff, Garrett (Simran) Turnacliff, great grandson Tymon Stinn, sister Linda Harrison, nieces - Shannon (Robert) Guss, Jamie (Chris) Neidermeier, Cristen (Jim) Mettlach and nephews - Tim (Mary) Cornila, Tom (Sue) Cornila.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Ronald W. Henriksson, son Robert Roy Cornila and brother Jay K. Vinton.
