Joann Hitch Obituary Joanne (JoJo) Hitch (ne Howard) died unexpectedly in her home in Deephaven, MN on March 17, 2016 at the age of 57.
JoJo will be missed for her generous spirit, her propensity to laugh, her competitive drive, her fierce love of family, her impeccable style, and her amazing cooking skills. She was a loving and committed wife, mother, and grandmother; a thoughtful and attentive daughter and sister; and a loyal friend.
Joanne remembered every birthday and holiday, never arrived empty-handed, and always delivered meals when they were most needed. She regularly opened her home to friends and family, and boy could she cook! As one friend put it, "They must be eating well in heaven."
A 1976 graduate of Minnetonka High School who went on to study economics at Wheaton College of MA, Joanne was admired for her creativity, attention to detail, and ability to add a personal touch to her many endeavors. She worked in steel products for Cargill, Inc, as a bond trader for First Bank, and as a realtor for Burnet, Edina Realty, and Sotheby's of Wayzata. She was a member of the Wayzata Garden Club and The Study Group, and was active in her community.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Thomas Hitch, daughter Charlotte Hitch of Boston, son Benjamin Hitch of San Diego, granddaughter Isabelle Freck, parents James and Ann Howard, sisters Deborah Howard, Elizabeth (Thomas) Sellars, Barbara (Wilson) Lundsgaard, brother and sister in law Peter and Wendy Hitch, and two nieces and six nephews.
A funeral is scheduled for 3:00 Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Wayzata Community Church, 125 Wayzata Blvd. E. Wayzata with a reception to follow. Memorials may be sent to The Retreat, 1221 Wayzata Blvd, Wayzata, MN 55391
