Joanne Johnson Obituary Johnson, Joanne (Rider) A long-time resident of Naples, Florida and Wayzata, Minnesota, died peacefully on Saturday the 15th of November, 2014. Joanne was born October 2, 1930 in Baldwin, Wisconsin. She enjoyed her early adulthood as a Church Loan Officer with the Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance Company in Minneapolis. One of her favorite stories from that part of her life was flying co-pilot with her brother Donald in an open cockpit biplane. In the fall of 1969 she married William Johnson and became the adoptive mother to four children ranging from 5 to 18 years old. With no prior experience, Joanne kept a wonderful home for her new family and was a committed member of her church and community. As the years went by, she added the title of "Best Grandmother" to eight busy grandchildren to her repertoire. All along, Joanne was Bill's best golf partner and companion. She regularly caught the first, most and best fish no matter what the waters. Her energy and enthusiasm were boundless and her family and friends never lacked for a partner in any of their adventures. Joanne loved any time spent with her friends and family. Her spirit was infectious, and her smile could light up a room. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Inga Rider and her brother Donald. She is survived by her husband William and her children Elizabeth (Doug Domenick), Nancy (Matt Chambers), Daniel (Margaret Brophy) and Todd (Shawn), and eight grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday November 22 at 11:00 am at St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church, 17205 County Road 6, in Plymouth, Minnesota with a reception to follow. Memorial gifts may be made to the Joanne Rider Johnson Scholarship at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota
