Obituary

John Howard Boyer was born March 15th, 1959, in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. He peacefully passed away on January 25th, 2026, surrounded by his family. John grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, Los Angeles, California, and St. Louis Park, Minnesota. He spent much of his adult life in New York City, while also traveling extensively throughout the world.

John was a talented graphic artist, art director, and photographer. He worked for many years in the publishing industry, with his career taking him not only to New York, but also to Hong Kong and Thailand. His creativity, curiosity, and open-minded spirit shaped both his work and his life.

John's greatest accomplishment was the deep and lasting connections he maintained with friends and family across the globe. He was warm, open-hearted, and quick to laugh, and he was a loyal friend to so many. A self-taught classical pianist, music was a lifelong source of joy and expression for him.

In retirement, John became a yoga instructor, dedicating his time to working with the elderly. He was one of the primary caregivers for his mother throughout her journey with dementia, a role he embraced with patience, devotion, and compassion.

John will be remembered for his kindness, generosity of spirit, and his love of dogs. His caring nature, gentle presence and wonderful sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Geraldine Boyer. He is survived by Mary (Bill) Hollway, Jim Boyer, Anne (Kurt) Paske, Sarah (Chris) Willson, Patty (Tim) Schaller, Debbie Trom, 15 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life to be held June 20th, 1 – 4 pm, at Oakridge Country Club, 700 Oakridge Road, Hopkins, MN.
