John Crinklaw Obituary It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of John F. Crinklaw, who left us on June 23, 2024, at the age of 82. John was a man of remarkable dedication and wisdom, whose life was marked by his profound commitment to his family and his distinguished career in banking.
John was born on November 22, 1941, in Edina, MN. He attended the University of Minnesota, enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1960, and was honorably discharged in 1964. He later completed his education at the University of Wisconsins Graduate School of Banking.
His banking career began in 1964 in Denver, CO. John returned to MN to work at National City Bank for over 20 years. In 1992, he joined Bank Windsor as President, a role he would continue when Bank Windsor merged with Riverside Bank to form Associated Bank of Minnesota in 1999. Rather than retiring from Associated, John left as CEO in 2004 to join former Windsor associates as President of Crown Bank Minneapolis Branch in December of that year.
After retiring from Crown Bank in 2016, John continued to consult. He served on the boards of Community Resource Bank and MidCountry Bank up until the time of his death, approving a loan the day before he died.
Johns banking philosophy centered on personalized service and building strong customer relationships. For John, character often carried as much weight as collateral and his contributions to the banking industry were profound. His legacy includes countless mentorships, life-long customers and friends.
Beyond his professional life, John cherished his family. He was married to his wife, Shirley May Crinklaw, for 60 years until her passing earlier this year. Together, they enjoyed nurturing their family and playing golf. John found joy in spending time with his children and grandson, sharing his wisdom and love.
John is survived by his loving daughters, Dawn Lawyer and Diana Crinklaw-Bowe, their spouses, Craig Lawyer and Jimmy Bowe, his grandson, Spencer Bowe, his cherished Teacup Yorkie, Sadie, and a host of friends and colleagues who will miss him dearly. His spirit, teachings, and dedication will live on through them and all who knew him.
A private graveside service with military honors was held at Holy Name of Jesus.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Folkestone Hearth for their exceptional care and support, and to those who attended John and Shirleys Celebration of Life on June 30.
