John Curtiss Noble passed away peacefully in his Key Largo home on May 22, 2026, with
his wife Linda by his side. John was born July 14,1930 in Evanston, IL and adopted from the
Cradle Adoption Agency by Curtiss and Georgiana Noble of Minneapolis. He will be
remembered for his love of family, strong spirit, independence, a deep love of country and
someone who always saw the glass half full. He attended Brown University, University of
Minnesota and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
His career began in banking (Wells Fargo) followed by 15 years in advertising (Campbell
Mithun). In 1969, he founded Northwestern Travel, building it from the ground up into a
nationally respected company with 1,000 employees and 86 oVices across 22 states
before its sale in 2004. He was a true self-made entrepreneur whose leadership, drive and
integrity shaped not only a successful business, but a community of people who felt seen
and valued. He took great pride in the people who worked with him and often said that the
success of the company was built on their dedication and talent. John was also Chairman
of the Midwest Chapter of American Society of Travel Advisors.
John was an avid golfer, tennis player, runner, angler and hunter. He loved everything
sports related. John and Linda split their time between homes in Wayzata and the Ocean
Reef Club in Key Largo. He was a longtime member of Woodhill Country Club, Layfayette
Club, Marsh Lake Hunting Club, and the Minneapolis Club. In Ocean Reef he belonged to
the Anglers, Racquet, and Yacht Clubs and played a leadership role in all at various times.
John is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Linda Noble; his sons, Peter Noble, Johnny
Noble, CliVord Noble (Cory), Jack Noble (Jennifer), his stepdaughter, Melissa Sattler; his
sister, Sally Kahn; his grandchildren Clint Noble, Natalie Oscarson (Joe), Arin Noble
(Andrew), Luke Noble (Kelsey), Asher Noble (Stephanie), Nick Noble, Ben Noble, Lauren
Noble; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the
beloved mother of his children, Estelle King; his two brothers Peter Noble and Jimmy
Noble; and his sister, Nancy Landon.
A private family graveside service will be held. A celebration of John’s life will be held on
Friday, 6/5, 3-5:00 pm at Woodhill Country Club. Memorials in lieu of flowers are preferred
to Tunnel to Towers Foundation T2T.org or donor’s choice.
