John Palmer Obituary
Palmer, John W. 86, was a former Wayzata mayor and served for over 25 years on the city Council and Planning Commission. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army Signal Core, European Theater, from 1942-1945. John was President of the Minnetonka Boat Works from 1956 to 1985. He was a long time member, and past president and director of the Wayzata Rotary Club. John served on the board of directors of numerous local organizations including the Wayzata Country Club, the Lake Minnesota Conservation District, the Wayzata Historical Society, North Shore State Bank, and the Wayzata Bank and Trust Company. He was honored by the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce as their Man of the Year in 1982. John is survived by by his wife of 57 years, Edythe; three sons, John (Jacqueline), James, and Jeffrey (Cindy); six grandchildren, Jacqueline (Kevin), Jason (Katia), Joseph, Jennifer, Bradley, and Hope; five great-grandchildren, Jared, Alexis, Ashton, Akira and Yasmine. Memorials may be to made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Wayzata Historical Society, or the donor's choice. Funeral service Monday 4:00 PM at Wayzata Community Church, 125 E.
