Obituary

Jone Gedge Obituary Gedge, Jone R., 92, longtime former Lake Forest, IL resident, died July 18, 2014 in Wayzata, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles H. Gedge, and is survived by her four children: Charles H. Gedge, Jr. (Karin) of Westchester, PA; Kimberly G. Walker of Bozeman, MT; Karl R. Gedge (Joan) of Charleston, SC; and Lindsay G. (Michael) Strand of Minnetonka, MN, along with eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gedge possessed exquisite taste in apparel, interior design and fine antiques, which led her to found and operate Spruce Antiques, a well-regarded and successful storefront in Lake Forest for many years. One of her favorite pastimes was organizing the first Lake Forest chapter of the Infant Welfare Society, and raising funds for the organization for decades via the Antiques & Treasures in the Field event and later the first Lake Forest Showcase Home, both of which she also helped to start. In addition, Mrs. Gedge was on the founding committee of the Lake Forest Academy Antiques Show. She met and married her husband, Charles, at Beloit College during WWII, and the pair remained lifelong companions until his passing in 2008. Memorials preferred to the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago, Lake Forest Academy, or Secondhand Hounds Animal Rescue of Minnesota.
