Joseph Offerman Obituary
Offerman, Joseph Henry Joe Passed away peacefully on June 17th, 2007 on Father's Day. Survived by and beloved husband to his wife of 60 years, Sue; an inspirational father to his children, Carin, Scott (Sharon), Dana, Patty, Steve (Tammy) and Gina (Brian); and extraordinary grandfather to Andrew, Leigh, Evan, Taylor, Madysen and Natalie. Joe was born on March 31st, 1925 in Minneapolis to Alma & Ben Offerman. He graduated from North High School in 1943 and went directly into the United States Army Air Force where he earned his pilot's wings at age 19. He was then stationed in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska where he commanded a B-24 Bomber with a crew of eight. After WWII ended, Joe returned to Minneapolis and married Sue on June 14th, 1947. He began a very successful career in business that included 20 years with Gamble-Skogmo and, in 1966, founded and ran his own investment firm, Offerman & Company. After his retirement, Joe and Sue enjoyed spending their winters in Scottsdale where Joe was a member of Troon Country Club. In summer, Joe and Sue lived in their house on Long Lake where they loved hosting picnics and pool parties for their kids and grandkids. Joe was an avid hunter and golfer for years. And also was the life of the party. Whether he was leading a fishing expedition with his salesmen in Canada, a hunting weekend with his sons and grandsons or showing you how to hit the next golf shot at Wayzata Country Club, Joe loved being in the center of the action. Husband. Father. Grandfather. Veteran. Pilot. Business founder truly a memorable life and an unforgettable man. Perhaps his greatest legacy was his upbeat attitude and sense of humor. Joe had a knack of producing smiles and laughter no matter the situation or the problem. Joe wouldn't want tears. He'd say, tell some jokes, laugh, have fun... and pour yourself a Miller Lite.
