June Johnson Obituary age 90 years and 10 months, formerly of Duluth went to heaven on April 2, 2018 at home in Wayzata, MN. Born in Duluth, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Glendon and parents, Walter & Martha Nielsen. Survived by loving family; two sisters, Elaine Hall, and her three children, Tod (Hilary) Hall, Mason (Brenda), and Susan of Silverdale WA; and other sister, Marlene (Lee) Engen and her two children, Heidi Engen, Kelly (Will) Yelle of FL; also survived by nieces, Sarah (Mikkel) Chambers, Rachel Amundsen, Deborah Yelle; nephews, Stephen and David Amundsen, Caleb Yelle and others. June graduated from Morgan Park High School and the University of Duluth, MN majoring in teaching and music, with a minor in voice. June was the first woman from Minneapolis side of Mississippi to head the St. Paul Opera Guild and to become the President. June was active in Minneapolis Women's Club, American Association of University Women, Thursday Musical, Great Books Club, Bible Studies, Investment Club and President of the Boys and Girls Club. A Golden member of the Wayzata Country Club for 50 plus years. Taught 7 years at Stowe school in Duluth, Windom School in Minneapolis for 10 years, and then a teacher-helper with the Minneapolis Board of Education. June loved traveling to many countries, entertaining with music and great stories, and especially being with children. A memorial service for June will be held on Monday, April 30, 11 AM at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Avenue South in Minneapolis. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
