June Matthews Obituary
Matthews, June Patricia Age 81, of Plymouth, passed away December 2, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, John. June was raised in India, met John in Glasgow, Scotland, and had her children in Canada and Minnesota. An artist and animal rights advocate, she will be remembered for her incredible kindness and generosity. June was best known as an animal lover and rehabilitator of orphaned and injured wildlife. She also treasured her Irish Wolfhounds and Yorkshire Terriers. She will be dearly missed by those who have survived her: her brother Maurice Gregory of Sussex, England; daughters Andrea Matthews Clark (Edward) of Minneapolis, Julia Matthews (John Friedmeyer) of Wabasha, Jocelyn Matthews- Peterson (Steven) of Maple Grove; and grandsons Alexander and Evan Peterson and Joseph and John Friedmeyer V. Funeral service is Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 11 AM at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata. Visitation Tuesday, Dec. 7, from 3-7 PM and 1 hour before funeral, also at the funeral home. Memorials preferred in June's name to Homeward Bound Dog Rescue of MN or St. Elizabeth's Health Care Center in Wabasha, MN, where staff showed incredible compassion and caring in our time of need.
