Katherine "Kay" Ellen
Alsaker
July 1, 1940 – January 22, 2026
Katherine (Kay) Ellen Alsaker (née Bies), age 85, of Minnetonka, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026.
Born on July 1, 1940, to Leonard and Helen Bies, Kay lived a life defined by strength, steadiness, and deep devotion to those she loved. She built a successful career in sales and entrepreneurship, forging her own path with determination, resilience, and her skill of disarming conversation. Her work ethic both in motherhood and her career, was matched by her loyalty and warmth.
Above all, Kay was a devoted mother and grandmother. Through seasons of joy and profound loss, she remained courageous, capable, and full of life. Her resilience in the face of unimaginable loss was a testament to her enduring strength. She was a constant source of love through her steady presence — someone who showed up, who endured, and who cared deeply. She had a gift for celebrating everyone around her, by encouraging one's passions and sense of adventure.
Kay found happiness in golfing under open skies, biking and swimming, traveling, and nurturing many lifelong friendships. She valued connection and carried those relationships with care, and of course, a healthy dose of competitive banter over a game of cards.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Lindsay Alsaker; her great-granddaughter, Elliotte Butter; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Leonard Bies; her husband, Carl Alsaker; her sons, David Alsaker and John Alsaker; her brothers, John Bies, Fred Bies, and Jim Bies; and many dear friends.
Service and burial plans are intended to take place on May 27th, but are pending final details.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Kay's memory to the Alzheimer's Association to support research toward a cure and resources for patients and families.
