Kathleen Glaubitz Obituary Kathleen (Kathy) Ann Glaubitz died peacefully at home on June 14 after a short battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Kathy was the only girl of five children born to Donald and Irene (Saulsbury) Rutland of Appleton, Minnesota. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1965 and married her first husband, Richard Banken, in 1966. They had two sons, Scott and Sean. Kathy received a degree in Accounting from Minnesota State University in 1986. In 1988, she was married to Rex C. Glaubitz. Together they loved spending time outdoors camping, fishing, hunting, travelling, and searching for antiques. Though Rex and Kathy eventually separated, Rex remained the love of her life until the time of her death. A longtime resident of St. Peter, Kathy worked for several employers in the Mankato area including Johnson Outdoors, Parker Hannifin, and Greater Minnesota Gas Company. In 2012, she moved to the Twin Cities area to be closer to family and worked for the Minnetonka Arts Center for several years. Kathy was an independent spirit with many interests and talents. She was an accomplished sewer and quilter, and also became a talented potter. Many of her works of art were displayed and sold through the Minnetonka Arts Center Arts for the Holidays annual sale. She loved to share her passion for crafts and joyfully completed many projects with and for her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed her hosta gardens. Kathy was immensely proud of her family, Scott (Lynn) Banken and Sean (Glenda) Banken and a loving grandmother to Michael, McKenna, and Tristan. She leaves behind many beautiful memories and will be missed greatly.
