Kenneth Peter Nyquist, age 73, of Plymouth, MN, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Colburn Nyquist; mother, Gloria (Schommer) Dalbotten; sister, Kathy (Nyquist) Nelson; step-brother, David Olson.

Ken's successful career in retail merchandising began at Dayton's Department Store, where he met his future wife of 43 years, Diane (Horvat) Nyquist. Together they raised their son, David Colburn Nyquist, while Ken continued his career at Carlson Companies, Fingerhut Corp, and Bluestem Brands.

Throughout his life, Ken enjoyed many vacations with family and friends at his cabins on Island Lake, MN, as well as many special times in various Caribbean islands, including his beloved island of St. Martin. Ken found joy in cooking gourmet family meals, cross-country skiing, golfing, and fishing with family and friends.

Ken is survived by his wife, Diane (Horvat) Nyquist; son, David Colburn Nyquist, David's partner Valarie Roseth and her daughter, Chloe Roseth; uncle, Edmund "Bud" Schommer; sister, Karen (Nyquist) Gallagher; sisters-in-law, Susan (Tony) Schiller and Cyndi (Kevin) Lorang; nephews, Chad Gallagher, Stephen Gallagher, and Kenny Lorang; nieces, Danielle (Nelson) Kluberton and Amber Lorang, and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial service 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 5, 2026 with visitation one hour prior at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 Wayzata Blvd E. , Wayzata. A Celebration of Life Reception will immediately follow at 6Smith restaurant, 294 Grove Ln E, Wayzata.
