Obituary

Lucille Offerman Obituary Offerman, Lucille Sue Passed away peacefully on April 10th, 2009. Survived by, and a source of strength and infinite love, to her children Carin, Scott (Sharon), Dana, Patty, Steve (Tammy) and Gina (Brian); and a real hands-on, involved grandma to Andrew, Leigh, Evan, Taylor, Madysen and Natalie. Preceded in death by Joe, beloved husband of 60 years; mother and stepfather, Ione and Peter Paulos. Sue was born on August 18th, 1926 to Ione Lord, a single mother. After enduring years of hardship during the great depression, her life changed at age 10 when she was enrolled in the Watson School of Dancing. By age 14, she was dancing professionally with the school's troupe at county fairs, state fairs big band concerts and sport shows throughout the upper Midwest. In her later teens, she added fashion modeling to her resume and also worked in Dayton's Oval Room. On June 14th, 1947, Sue married the love of her life, Joe, and together they began an amazing 60-year partnership. She also discovered the vocation of her life: being a mother. A role she excelled at with patience, nurturing and a great sense of humor. As if raising 6 kids wasn't enough to keep her busy, Sue gave tirelessly of herself to people struggling with alcoholism and chemical dependency. She was always available to listen to, counsel, visit or help strangers, friends, neighbors or relatives. She lived in the solution, not the problem. A practice she herself used to achieve over 48 years of uninterrupted sobriety. Sue's boundless energy and excitement for whatever she was doing was contagious. You always wanted to be in on the fun. She collected antiques and ran estate sales with her friend of 63 years, Pat Weinmann. She raced her horses at Canterbury Park. She collected Southwest Indian art and Irish porcelain. She was always up for a game of bridge, cribbage, poker, scrabble, bingo. She hosted countless picnics and pool parties for her kids and grandkids. She was totally involved in the art of living and of giving. Wife, mother, grandmother, lifelong friend, AA member and sponsor- a remarkable woman and an unforgettable inspiration. Her spirit lives on in the memory of her welcoming smile, her bright blue eyes and that incredible sense she gave you that you were accepted and loved. We love you Mom. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday April 15, 11 AM at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 155 County Road 24, Medina, with visitation starting at 10 AM. Interment Holy Name Cemetery. Memorials preferred to: The Canterbury Park Minnesota Fund (to benefit the Dean Kutz Memorial Chapel), 1100 Canterbury Rd, Shakopee, MN 55379. David Lee Funeral Home Wayzata 952-473-5577
