Maland Hurr Obituary Dr. Maland C. Hurr left this world on December 21, 2022, peacefully and surrounded by family at the age of 94. Maland was born in South Minneapolis to Lawrence and Sophie Hurr. He attended Washburn High School, graduating a year early to start his studies in medicine at the University of Minnesota. He graduated with his M.D. in 1953 and began his service in the Air Force as a flight surgeon. He was stationed in France for two years. When he finished his service, he returned to the U of MN to complete his neurology specialty training and subsequently began practice with the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology, where he served his entire career as a partner until he retired in 2000. In the summer of 1957, he met the love of his life, JoEllen Langguth, at a University of Life social at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church where they both are lifelong members. They were married in December of that same year and celebrated 65 years of marriage on the day he passed. Maland was an intelligent, quick witted, compassionate, friendly, kindhearted, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He never had a bad word about anyone and was always so appreciative of the people in his life. He loved traveling, watching football, vacationing in Sanibel, drives around Lake Minnetonka, local history, reading, boat rides, and hosting parties for friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his family who will miss him dearly his loving wife JoEllen, his three children Gretchen, Charles, Martha (Mark), his grandson Benjamin, and many wonderful friends. Memorial Service will be held at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church on Friday, January 6th at 11am. Visitation one hour prior and a luncheon immediately following. Private burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
