Marcella Hansen Obituary MARCELLA HANSEN, 96 A memorial service for Marcella B. Hansen, 96, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Oak Knoll Lutheran Church, 600 Hopkins Crossroad, Minnetonka, MN 55305. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cologne MN. The family will greet friends before the memorial service and at the lunch reception immediately following the service. Marcella passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in Seattle WA, after completing rehabilitation for a fall-related injury that occurred in early October. Marcella was born March 20, 1921 in Benton Township MN, the daughter of William and Dora Mattfeld. She was baptized, attended school, and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and School; she graduated from Waconia High School in 1939. Married in 1944, Marcella was the former wife of Monrad K. Hansen, who passed away in 1969. Marcella was an inspiration to many, always looking forward to better times ahead. Throughout her life, she had an unwavering faith in God; Marcella was a member of Oak Knoll Lutheran Church and demonstrated commitment to worship, service, mission, and holding each other accountable to walk in the way of the Lord. She worked for many years as a cake decorator, was a member of the Bakery and Confectionery Union, and retired from Driscolls SuperValu. After retirement, she relished the time to travel, play cards, spend time with family and friends, and freely advise on the state of things-anything! For the past 16 years she lived at RidgePointe senior living in Minnetonka, MN, where she kept on going, going, going. She valued community and will be greatly missed by many. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who respected her strong sense of self-reliance while helping her maintain independence in these later years, and for the compassion and support freely given when it was most needed. Marcella is survived by her children and their spouses; Joanne (Torrey) Neill, Riverside CA; Marcelline (Jim) Harris, Seattle WA; Pamela (Gale) Trent, Ocala FL; 7 loving grandchildren (Laurel, Noelle, Jesse, Daniel, Andrew, Christopher, Angela); 13 great-grandchildren; and beloved nephews William (Nancy) Mattfeld, Manassas VA and Thomas (Jackie) Mattfeld, Gaylord MN. She was preceded in death by brother, Henry Mattfeld, sister-in-law Geraldine Mattfeld, and niece Yvonne Wellnitz. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota, 2485 Como Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55108 targeting the Oak Knoll Refugee Settlement Fund, targeting Oak Knoll Refugee Settlement Fund. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. Psalm 23. Memorial 11:00 AM ,Saturday, February 17, 2018 Oak Knoll Lutheran Church 600 Hopkins Crossroad Minnetonka, MN
