Marie Sullivan Obituary
Sullivan, Marie Elise deGolian 54, known to everyone as Doll, passed away at her home in Plymouth, MN on November 6, 2007, ending a seven-month battle with cancer. Her transparently genuine caring for others inspired love and affection in everyone she met. The combination of her warmth, her smile and her physical beauty was simply stunning. Wherever she was became a brighter and happier place for everyone there. Doll was born at Atlanta, GA on December 3, 1952, the seventh of Felix and Helen deGolian's fourteen children. She lived in Portland, ME for almost 20 years, where she held various positions in both the Investments and Public Affairs divisions of UNUM, a Portland-based insurance company, and also served as a director of Crossroads, a program for battered and abused women. She moved to Minnesota in 1997 to marry Austin Sullivan and, once there, became an active board member of Catholic Charities, chairing its annual Christmas gift program. She is survived by her husband; her daughters, Lauren and Georgia Gibbons; her son, Samuel Gibbons; her step-children Austin Pat Sullivan, Amanda Sullivan and Alexander Sullivan; her grandson, Jered Everson; her mother, Helen deGolian of Atlanta, GA; and her siblings, Felix deGolian, Helen Butchie Neely, Robert deGolian, Angelique White, William deGolian, Jonathan Jerry deGolian, Regina Nina Savakus, Michael deGolian, Lucy Marshall, George deGolian, Peter deGolian, Anne deGolian and Roch deGolian. Her father, Felix deGolian, died in 2004. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, November 12, 2007 at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. Visitation on Sunday, November 11 from 5-7 pm at the David Lee Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul or the Ministry for the Poor at the Basilica of St. Mary. She leaves a deep, aching hole in our lives. May her soul know the promise and the joy of eternal life. David Lee Funeral Home Wayzata 952-473-5577
