Marjorie Jensen Obituary
Jensen, Marjorie Bennett (Benson) Passed away on Friday, February 22, 2008 after a brief illness at the age of 89. Born March 7, 1918 to Bertha Kleven Bennett and Chester H. Bennett near Lowry MN. She is survived and deeply missed by her husband, Kenneth P. Jensen; her daughter, Louise Benson Leatherdale (Doug); Ken's children, Susan Jensen Levi (David), Steve Jensen, Barbara Jensen, Karen Jensen Hulting (Fred) and their children and grandchildren; her grandchildren, Eric C. Benson (Francesca), Sara L. Benson, Timothy E. Schock (Heather), Thomas S. Schock (Wanloe), Mary Jo Leatherdale Emfield (Gregg), Christopher W. Leatherdale (Rebecca), and loving great-grandchildren. Marjorie is also survived by her brother, Glenn Bennett (Lowry, MN) and sisters, Beverly Bennett Braaten (John) of Alexandria, MN, Joyce Bennett Harvey (Glenwood, MN), and Sharon Bennett Wenner (David) of St. Petersburg, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lavina Bennett Mortenson; brother, Chester W. Bennett (Bud); her first spouse, L. Stewart Benson, and son, Lawrence P. Benson. Marjorie graduated from Glenwood, MN High School in 1936 followed by nurses training at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN. Retiring from a successful career as a head nurse in oncology and hospice training at Midway-Mounds Hospital she spent over 40 years in nursing. Marge enjoyed sharing her love of music with her husband Ken, going to Minnesota Orchestral concerts and was an accomplished quilt maker. She enjoyed singing in the Plymouth Rockers for many years and loved gardening and family genealogy study as well. But more importantly, Marge had the ability to touch the hearts of all she met. She was a gracious and kind person and one that will be missed dearly by friends and family. A memorial service will be held for Marjorie on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 11:00 am at St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church, 17205 County Road 6, Plymouth, MN (763-475-7100) with visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (Breast Cancer) or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
