Mary Sonderup Obituary Sonderup, Mary Helen age 86 of Minnetonka MN, born March 6, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN and passed away March 10, 2024. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend, W. Darrell Sonderup; parents, Lloyd and Ila Bengtson and brother, Thomas Bengtson. She is survived by five children and seven grandchildren. Along with her children and grandchildren Mary had many friends and relatives that will miss her every day. Her home was what we all were drawn to as a place of comfort and the true feeling of home. Mary loved to spend time with family and friends and always had coffee and baked goods ready to share. She loved to travel and particularly enjoyed trips to Sweden and Denmark. Camping was something she really enjoyed. There were many camping trips across the United States and Canada where she was the travel guide, always finding the best campgrounds and hiking trails. Even through the trials of Covid she was ready for a driveway campfire or a hike. Along with her love of travel, during the spring, summer and fall you could find her in her garden, or reading, and during the winter working a jigsaw puzzle. Mary loved her church community and found great satisfaction, wonderful friendships and joy when she was able to serve others in the community of Christ. Celebration of Life will be April 18, 2024 at 11:00 am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities, Minnetonka Campus, 16023 Minnetonka Blvd. Minnetonka with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities in Marys name.
