Mavis
Frost
Jul 6, 1940 — Sep 30, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mavis Mesher Frost at the age of 86.
Born in London, England, Mavis immigrated to the United States at the age of 19 to work as an au pair in Wayzata, Minnesota. It was there that she met and married Tom Frost, and together they raised three sons: Scott, Christopher, and Tommy.Mavis possessed a lifelong love for children and dedicated her career to the Wayzata Schools, where she taught until the age of 70. She cherished every student she taught, but her true passion was gardening. She found immense joy in the earth, planting flowers and nurturing them, sharing the resulting beauty with everyone in the neighborhood.Above all, Mavis’s family was the most important part of her life. She was a gentle, selfless soul who loved us with her whole heart and never complained.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her son, Tommy; her granddaughter, Madaline; her brothers, Peter and Jim; and her parents, Elaine and William.
She is survived by her sons, Scott (Kathleen) and Christopher; her grandchildren, Maxwell, Elizabeth, and Amanda; and her great-grandchildren, Samora and Max and special daughters-in-law Rachel and Charlotte. She will also be deeply missed by her family overseas, Vickie and Geoff, Pat and others as well as our neighborhood friends who were like family to us and all whom shared her life in our community.
Mavis was our rock, and we will miss her dearly. Rest easy, Mom, with your cup of tea. When you look for her, she will be the second star to the right and straight on 'til morning.
A tea party in her honor will be held at a later date.
