Miles William Ottinger of Plymouth passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with melanoma. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend whose warmth and humor touched many lives.
Miles is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Joan; his children, Melissa Andrade and Mitchell (Terry), and grandchildren, Megan Ottinger, and Isabella and Nicolas Andrade. He brought joy to those around him with his quick wit, kind spirit, and wonderful sense of humor.
Born and raised in West St. Paul, Miles graduated from Henry Sibley High School and attended the University of Minnesota as an Evans Scholar on a caddy scholarship through the Western Golf Assn. He served his country in Vietnam as an Engineer Officer and later continued his service in the Army Reserve for eight years. He earned his MBA from the University of St. Thomas.
Miles built a successful career in purchasing management with Electric Machinery and American Hoist & Derrick before owning his own sales agency in 1985.
A passionate golfer and active community member, Miles and Joan enjoyed many years with friends at Burl Oaks Golf Club in Minnetrista and wintered together in Surprise, Arizona. Miles was a devoted parishioner and member of the choir at St. Edward’s Episcopal Church.
Miles will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Edward’s Episcopal Church, 865 Ferndale Rd E, Wayzata, on June 19 at 11 AM. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will take place on July 1 at 10 AM. Please arrive by 9:45 at Assembly Area #2.
