Miles Smart Obituary Miles Smart July 25, 1923 - December 30, 2016 Miles Smart, age 93 of Plymouth MN, passed away on December 30, 2016. Miles, son of Bud and Mary Smart, was born in Kidder SD on July 25, 1923. Miles is survived by sons Marlin and Merlin Smart of Plymouth MN and Miles Smart (and wife Gwenn) of Raleigh NC, grandchildren Erika Henderson (Rich) of Apex NC and Ryan Vigen-Smart (Katrina) of Nelson BC, 5 great-grandchildren, and mother-in-law Lila Bemis of Valley City ND. He was preceded in death by Lila Bemis Smart, his wife of nearly 68 years, his parents, his brothers Sam, Orville, Vie, Percy, and Bill and sisters Jean, Muriel, and Erlyne, and daughter-in-law Brenda Smart. Miles graduated from Valley City (ND) State College and received his Masters Degree from the University of ND. He served as a teacher and school administrator in Casselton ND, Watertown SD, Clark SD, Jamestown (ND) College, South Dakota State University in Brookings, and Northern State University in Aberdeen SD.
