Lovig, Monte D.

Monte Lovig was born on June 3, 1942 at his parents’ home in Corning, Iowa. He tried to avoid doctors and hospitals his whole life!

He began his career at ServiceMaster, and then moved on to Darling Cleaners. After several years there, Monte and his business partner opened Best Cleaning and Restoration in 1988. In addition to cleaning one-of-a-kind antiques and costumes, they helped families across the metro area recover their belongings in the wake of fires and flooding.

Monte’s work was not only professionally fulfilling - it was while he was at work that he met his bride-to-be. He married Lorelei Alexander on August 6, 1966, and the couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with 2 children, Tim and Dawn. Over the years, the family enjoyed many roadtrips together - almost always with Monte at the wheel. A lifelong Ford man, he especially enjoyed the warmer months when he could cruise in his 1968 Mustang convertible. Retirement allowed Monte to experience many other travel opportunities and to enjoy time with his grandson, Ed.

Monte lived for more than 25 years with Parkinson's Disease, and his family is grateful for the DBS surgery that improved his quality of life for many of those years. On September 3rd, 2026, family and friends surrounded Monte as he found eternal peace.

A memorial service for Monte Lovig will be held at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in Plymouth on Saturday, September 19th. The service will be at 11:00 a.m., with visitation 1 hour prior, and a light lunch to follow. The family is also hosting a remembrance gathering at RidgePointe Apartments on Sunday, September 20th from 1-4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Monte’s family welcomes memorial donations to either the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or to Minnesota PBS.
