Obituary

Nancy Chinn Obituary Nancy Lee (Tendrup) Chinn, age 92, went home to be with her Savior on Thursday, February 6, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering Christ-like faith, selfless service, and unconditional love for her family and friends. Born on October 8, 1932, in St Paul, Minnesota, Nancy spent her life devoted to Christ, her family, and her community. On January 2, 1951, Nancy married her beloved husband, Ben Chinn. Their marriage spanned nearly 62 years until Bens passing in 2012 at the remarkable age of 100. Together, they built a family grounded in Godliness according to His Word. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Chinn; her parents, Donald and Irene (Carlson) Tendrup; her three siblings, Donald Tendrup II, Evelyn (Tendrup) Libby, and Wesley Tendrup; and her son-in-law, Donald Poole. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Chinn, Ginny (Chinn) Poole, William and Sally Chinn, and David and Darla Chinn. Her legacy continues to live on through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a source of great pride and joy. Nancys life serves as a profound example of steadfast faith and dedication to Christ. In the 1950s, she committed her life to Jesus at a Billy Graham evangelistic meeting. This decision marked a turning point in her life, reflecting the transformative power described in Romans 12:1-2: "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (ESV) Nancys transformation was immediate and evident. Faithfully meditating on Gods Word, she was convicted of sin and began to change her habits. Her passion for scripture grew as she consistently read and studied it, becoming a source of spiritual food and strength. This love for God and His Word was reflected in her actions, especially in her care for others. Nancys gift of hospitality was one of the clearest expressions of her faith. She opened her home multiple times to those in need, providing refuge and support. At least one young man came to Christ through her faithful ministry. Her home became a haven, welcoming family, friends, missionaries, musicians, pastors, and anyone in need of a place to stay. Her willingness to serve others in this way continued until she moved into memory care later in life. In addition to her hospitality, Nancy was deeply committed to her local church. She served faithfully for many years, including as a cook at a Christian summer camp, where her service influenced her children, who attended the camp each summer. Alongside her husband, Ben, she led young adult ministries, and she devoted over 40 years to serving as a leader in the AWANA program. As a mother, Nancys Godly example left an eternal impact on her children. Her devotion to prayer was a cornerstone of her life. Rising early each morning, she faithfully prayed for her children, offering them a precious spiritual legacy. She also loved reading biographies and autobiographies of Christians who served the Lord, finding inspiration in their stories. Whether in prayer, Scripture study, or ministry, Nancy lived a life that reflected Christ-like faith and service. Her unwavering commitment to God and others is a testament to the power of a life transformed by Christ. Through her example, Nancy demonstrated what it means to live a life wholly dedicated to the Lord, leaving an enduring legacy of faith, love, and service. We celebrate now as she is in the very presence of the One that she loved because He first showed His love to her.
