Nina Romer Osberg, lovingly known as "Nini"
December 14, 1944 — April 15, 2026
Nini of Plymouth, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Born to Samuel and Edna Romer in Brooklyn, NY, Nini spent much of her youth traveling with her parents before the family settled in the Minneapolis area. She graduated from the Northrop School for Girls and later earned a B.S. from the University of Minnesota Duluth in June 1973 while raising two children, Richard and Peter.
Nini taught at Wayzata High School for over 20 years where she established and led FOCUS, a curriculum to support at risk students. While teaching she met Jack Osberg; they married on November 26, 1976, blending their families and later welcoming a sixth child, Anne. Throughout Jack's coaching career, Nini was a tireless supporter of players and families until Alzheimer's gradually limited her activities.
Even as the disease progressed, Nini's zest, sass and warm humor remained. She entered memory care in February 2022, where Jack visited daily and family and friends continued to surround her with love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Edna Romer. Nini is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Osberg; children, Richard (Diana) Osberg, Jennifer (Scott) Isaacson, Peter (Kara) Osberg, Jeff (Kris) Osberg, Jamie (Jen) Osberg, and Anne (Scott) Moore; grandchildren, Grace, Johanna, Zoe, Lydia, Mason, Riley, Jayde, Emerson, Bella, Lilly, Ben, and Nick; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church, 17205 County Road 6, Plymouth, MN on June 11, 2026 4-7 pm. Memorial service will be held at St Philip on June 12th at 1 pm. Visitation begins 1 hour prior to the service with reception immediately after.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be distributed to The Alzheimer's Association and Augsburg College.
