Noel Davis Obituary Noel "Skip" Davis, age 86, of Plymouth, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 10, 2011. Preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Christina Noelle. Noel was a graduate of Bolles Academy, Jacksonville, FL and M.I.T., Cambridge, MA. Noel served in the Army Air Corps as a S.Sgt. during WWII in Okinawa. Noel was an engineer, inventor and entrepreneur. He held over 20 patents related to controlled environment agriculture. His professional career included: founder of Integrated Development & Mfg. of Chagrin Falls, OH; Dir. Special Projects, General Mills JFB Research Center; Owner/President, PhytoFarms, Inc., DeKalb, IL. Rather than retiring, Noel continued to serve as an engineering consultant to the U of M and Hill Hiker, Inc. Noel also enjoyed sharing his passion for engineering with local high school students. Inspired by his father, Cmdr. Noel Guy Davis, Noel became a life long flight enthusiast as a private pilot and active member of Quiet Birdmen (past president). He was an active member/past president of the Twin Cities chapter of the M.I.T. Alumni Club. Skips zest for life included tennis, skiing, sailing, fishing, hunting, scuba diving and photography. Above all, Skip was a devoted family man and friend. He will be cherished and missed by his family including: his wife of 64 years, Mary; his children Holly, Brye, Heather and Laurie and their spouses, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 28 at 10am at Wayzata Community Church, 125 E. Wayzata Blvd. Visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to M.I.T. for the Class of 1949 Student Financial Aid Fund, memo line: In Memory of Noel Davis or Wayzata Community Church, memo line: In Memory of Noel Davis.
