Obituary

Patricia Halvorson Obituary Patricia Patty Ann Halvorson passed unexpectedly on Thursday, June 26th. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Frank Hickling; her sister, Dorothy Taylor; her husband, George, and several of her beloved dogs. She is survived by her three children, Linda, George her three grandchildren, Pat & Nick Murray, & Chelsea Halvorson, and by all those who thought of her as their second Mom. Patty was born in Minneapolis on July 13th, 1927. She graduated from St. Margarets (BSM) where she made life-long friends who reunited for 70 years. In 1947, Patty met a handsome Naval Officer on a blind date; this began the love affair that lasted for 65 years. George and Patty were members of the Golden Valley Country Club for 33 years, where Pattys accurate and straight drives drove George crazy. Patty was the president of the Minneapolis chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild, and owned her own needlepoint shop. Of her many accomplishments, her most unique experience was her study of braille, which led to translating both books and sheet music for the blind. George and Patty were founding members of the Valley of Peace Lutheran Church where Patty sang in the choir for 40 years and needlepointed the kneelers that are still there to this day. Patty loved her family, music, animals and life. With a gentle, infectious spirit and overflowing heart, Patty always saw the world through a different lens when she could remember where she put her glasses. A celebration of Pattys life will be held at 12 pm with visitation starting at 11 pm on Tuesday, July 1st at Valley of Peace Lutheran Church in Golden Valley, 4735 Bassett Creek Drive. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to The Animal Humane Society of Golden Valley or The Alzheimers Association. Facts Born: July 13, 1927 Death: June 26, 2014
