Patricia O'Neil Obituary Patricia Jean (Kink) ONeil, 89, of Bluffton, S.C., died unexpectedly of natural causes on June 30, 2025, in St. Louis Park, Minn. Patricia was born on June 8, 1936, in Chicago to William A. and Agnes M. (Sauter) Kink. As a teenager, Patricia performed at the Chicago Civic Opera House as part of a brother-sister dance team. After graduating from Calumet (Ill.) High School in 1954, Patricia attended Northern Illinois University and became an elementary school teacher. In 1961, Patricia married Robert Lee ONeil. Together they raised five children Daniel, Douglas, Janet, David, and John. After pausing her career to raise their children, Patricia later rejoined the workforce, first as a teacher for mentally disabled adults, then as a writer and editor for Meadowbrook Press, A.C. Nielsen, and SPSS. In 1999, Patricia retired to Sun City, S.C., where she participated in a variety of activities for the next 25+ years, including golf, swimming, cycling, tap and line dancing (as both teacher and dancer), bridge, choirs, puzzles, crafts, and competing in the Senior Games. At age 69, she bicycled cross-country from Huntington Beach, Calif., to Hilton Head Island, S.C., to help raise funds for a cancer foundation. Her volunteer work included preparing the annual programs for events by the Sun City Lions Club and Sun City Veterans Association. Both organizations recognized her selfless contributions with awards. Patricia is remembered for her enthusiastic personality, smart intellect, and compassionate nature. She was preceded in death by husband Robert in 1998 and son Daniel in 2015. She is survived by her four other children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life event will take place in early fall at Sun City. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to her favorite local charity, Bluffton Self Help, in Bluffton, S.C.
