Patricia Sandstad Obituary Sandstad, Patricia Helen Jane ( Cosgriff ) 1922 2014 In her 92nd year, all the fun, work, travel and parenting ended for Patricia, with lots of family at her side. Just a week after her pancreatic cancer diagnosis and 46 hours after her last smile and greeting, she left us, gracefully. She was preceded in death by husband Kenyon, eldest son Neil, brothers, John, Dr. Jim Cosgriff Jr. and her sister, Mary. Celebrating her life while they mourn are her kids: Jane, Ken, Doug, Peg, Reed & Donna Pat; her grandkids: Jennifer, Jesse, Kate, Will, Nora, Heidi, Ryan, Kelly, Tori and Eric and her great grandkids: Layla, Lily, Jayden, Simon, Olivia, Louisa, Jack, Piper, Henry, Roscoe, Sloan and Charlie. Life began in New Ulm, MN, as the first child of Elsie & Dr. James A Cosgriff Sr. As the family grew, they moved to Olivia where her youth was enjoyed. After a year at St. Catherines College, she met the tall Air Force officer, Kenyon. They married in 1942, with baby #1 arriving in 43. Soon there were 4 babes, so they bought their first home in St. Louis Park. A bigger home, nearby, was soon needed for all 7 kids. During these years, we learned that she was SuperMom ! She could rustle up a Sunday breakfast for 9 that was restaurant quality and filled everyone to the brim. Then, of course, she went to Mass. She never complained about being a housewife and when the kids flew the coop, she began a 30 year career as an upscale Womens Fashion retailer. Patricia was faithful, a devout Catholic, an outstanding role model for both daughters and sons, a lover of music, crossword puzzles, card games, family, travel, time at the Green Lake cabin, flowers, pot roast, her Cadillac, golf & birds. When asked what she did for a living, recently, Patricia said Raise kids. Special thanks to primary Caregiver, Peg, and the staffs at Sholom West & North Memorial-Maple Grove. Monday visitation 5-7:30 at David Lee funeral home in Wayzata. Funeral mass at 11:00 am Tuesday- St. Mary of the Lake in Plymouth. Memorials to your favorite charity.
