Paul John
Lauber
November 26, 1968 – January 4, 2026
Lauber, Paul John
In loving memory of Paul John Lauber, age 57, of St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Paul passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Born November 26, 1968, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to Darrell and Shirley (Aho) Lauber, he was baptized in 1969 and later confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids. Paul was soft-spoken, thoughtful, and kind. He was a member of Woodlake Lutheran Church for more than three decades, finding strength and comfort in his faith.
Paul enjoyed school and graduated with highest honors from Grand Rapids Senior High School in 1987, lettering in both Track and Band. Paul's love of learning led him to Bemidji State University, where he earned an associate's degree in 1989, and then transferred to the University of Minnesota–Minneapolis, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Anthropology in 1991. He was a proud member of Phi Alpha Theta and remained a passionate student of history throughout his life.
As a history enthusiast, Paul participated in historical reenactment groups throughout the Minneapolis area, where he delighted in sharing stories and bringing the past to life.
He was also an avid Viking in every sense, cheering faithfully for the Minnesota Vikings and embracing the outdoors. His involvement in 4-H and Scouts brought him many awards, culminating with the rank of Eagle Scout and reflecting his strong values, perseverance, and service to others. These traits served him well later on as a title officer with First American Title for over 15 years, where he was respected for his integrity, attention to detail, and gentle presence.
Paul practiced martial arts with dedication, earning a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He enjoyed collecting, reading, watching movies, working out, and walking his beloved huskies. His dogs, Jenna and Hayze, were constant companions and a great source of joy.
Above all else, Paul treasured time with his children and granddaughter, whose presence brought light and laughter into his life.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Shirley Lauber, and his cherished huskies, Kelso, Lobo, and Samson.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Collin (Lucy), Ryan, and Kristin (Connor) McCabe; his granddaughter, Abarrane McCabe; his siblings, Mark (Sherry) Lauber and Lori Lauber; his niece and nephews, Sarah, Colton, and Kyle; and by many friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.
A Memorial Service celebrating Paul's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Woodlake Lutheran Church, 2120 West 76th Street, Richfield, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, Minnesota.
