Penny Bosselmann Obituary
Bosselmann, Penny age 72, of Deephaven, died in her home in hospice care on Sunday, December 30, with family at her side. Penny was a dancer and a poet who wrote a poem each Christmas for friends and relatives for nearly 40 years. She had a reverence for all of life and was a passionate protector of the defenseless. She was a longtime supporter of the animal humane society and other animal protection organizations. Penny was a woman of depth and great inner strength who was devoted to those close to her. Told she would survive about four years with ovarian cancer, she lived more than eight and a half years. She ran four miles and swam half a mile every morning until the effects of her illness made it too difficult. Penny Walker was born July 4, 1935. She graduated from high school in Forrest, Ill., and attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. She received her bachelor's degree with high distinction in 1975 and her master's degree in 1977, both from the University of Minnesota. A Registered Dance Therapist and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Penny worked as a movement and verbal therapist at Abbott Northwestern Hospital for many years and then in private practice. She was active in the dance therapy community. She is survived by husband, David Bosselmann of Deephaven, Minn.; daughter, Karen Faster, Madison, Wis.; son, Tom (Kerri) Faster, Excelsior, Minn.; step-son, Chris (Dana) Bosselmann, Flagstaff, Ariz.; step- daughter, Meghan (Mike) Sulger, Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren; step-sister-in-law, Fran Stanwood, Bannockburn, Ill.; and step-brother, Robert (Peggy) Stanwood, Bloomfield, Conn. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 19, at Wayzata Community Church, 125 E. Wayzata Blvd., where Penny and David are members.
