Phyllis Charlton Obituary Died peacefully surrounded by her family on September 30, 2017 in Wayzata. Phyllis was born on September 19, 1926 to Leonard and Maryann MacMartin in Bismarck, ND. She received her RN degree from the St. Alexius Hospital School of Nursing in Bismarck in 1946. Following her graduation, she moved to Detroit, MI for two years and then settled in Minneapolis, MN as an industrial nurse. She served as a board member and volunteered at the Minnesota Association for Children with Learning Disabilities. She also spent many hours volunteering at Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners. Phyllis greatest passions and talent were calligraphy, needlepoint and knitting. She knit beautiful sweaters for her family, friends and charities and loved to teach knitting to anyone willing to learn. Once a piece was completed she would immediately begin her next item. Phyllis is survived by her five children and their spouses, Mary (Bill Kattner), Addie Charlton, Todd Charlton (Laurie), Sarah (Larry Cox) and Amy Charlton; eight grandchildren; twin sister, Joan MacMartin Saabye of Bismarck, ND; and nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband John; her daughters, Nancy and Cathy Charlton; her parents, Leonard and Maryann MacMartin, and her brother, Dean MacMartin. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 8th, 4:00 6:00 pm at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 Wayzata Boulevard East, Wayzata, MN. A Celebration of Phyllis life will be held at 11:00 am with visitation starting at 10:30 am, Monday, October 9th, at the Folkestone Senior Living Chapel, 100 Promenade Avenue, Wayzata, MN with reception following.
