Rachel Handberg Obituary Rachel Ann (Haagenson) Handberg was born in Ambrose, N.D. on March 18, 1932 to Morris and Grace Haagenson. Rachel joined our Lord August 22, 2016. Rachel grew up in northwestern North Dakota and graduated from Crosby High School. She earned her teaching certificate and taught in a one-room schoolhouse in rural North Dakota. She moved to Minneapolis and met the love of her life, Channing Paul Handberg and married April 28, 1956. She remained close to her North Dakota roots visiting relatives and friends often. She was blessed to work at General Mills for over 20 years in the research and development department to the end developing wonderful friendships. Preceded in passing by brother, Charles Haagenson. Rachel is survived by her husband of 60 years Channing Paul Handberg; brother, Roger Haagenson (Diantha); sister, Margaret, Bickling (James); son, Channing Handberg, Jr. (Sheila); daughter, Heidi Louise Hukriede (Brian); grandchildren, Maria and Mark Handberg, Isabelle and Emma Hukriede. Services to be held 11 AM Friday, September 2, 2016 at King of Grace Lutheran Church, 6000 Duluth Street, Golden Valley, MN 55422 with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials may be directed to the church.
