Richard Karkow Obituary Karkow, Richard Ellis died peacefully at home on March 26, 2022. Born in Chicago, IL, on July 3, 1928, he was the son of Conrad Karkow and Florence Ellis. He earned his BA from Kenyon College, and went on to complete an MBA at Harvard University and a JD at Loyola University in Chicago. He was a member of the Illinois Bar Association and the Finance Executives Institute. Richard had a long and successful career as a financial executive, working variously for companies such as Pet Milk, Kroger, Illinois Tool, and Carlson Companies. He was married to Ruth Margaret Ehrlin for nearly forty years before her death in 1994. Richard and Ruth had two children, Catherine Elizabeth and Douglas Paul (died 2017). In addition to his family Richard loved travel, food, his dogs, and listening to the frogs and owls outside his house at night. He is survived by his daughter, Catherine of Leeds England, and his granddaughter, Rachel Gibbs and great-grandson, Andrej Gicev, both of Seattle, WA.
