Obituary

Richard Tice Obituary Age 85, of Victoria, passed away on March 31, 2018 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, after a brief, but debilitating Alzheimers diagnosis. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, sister and daughter, Deborah. He is survived by his wife, Faith Ann; brother, Kenneth (Darlene); sons, Richard (Judi), Robert (Lana), Ronald, daughter, Carrie (Raymond) Caruso, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. He was born in East Liverpool, OH, the son of a second generation grocer, and graduated from Christian Theological Seminary, where he received a Masters of Divinity. He was a Methodist minister for many years and changed career paths to real estate development in the 1970s. He met his 2nd wife, Faith Ann and moved to Fort Lauderdale with her and her young daughter. When he retired, they moved to Raleigh, NC, where he began a woodworking business and in 1997 they moved back to Minnesota and he continued delighting customers with his custom furniture pieces for many years. Richard was a talented writer and captivating speaker, and he shared those gifts everywhere he went. He never met a podium he didnt feel comfortable with. He spoke at weddings and funerals; toasted birthdays and anniversaries; and was ready with a prayer on all holidays. He was an avid reader and student with many hobbies and interests including; running high school track, writing prose and poetry, short wave radio, gardening, photography, stargazing, electronics, and a passion for golf. He never tired of reading and studying anything related to his interests. Throughout his life, he was an advocate for political and social justice; he was a lifelong Democrat; a member of the ACLU; marched in Selma with Martin Luther King; was a Delegate to the 1968 Democratic National Convention; and volunteered as a guardian ad litem and court-appointed special advocate for children. A visitation for Richard will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 5-7 PM at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E Wayzata Blvd, Wayzata. Private family interment at Hanover City Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum or donors choice.
