Obituary

Roland Larson Obituary Roland (Rollie) Larson died peacefully at home on July 11, 2015, surrounded by family. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. Born and raised in Minnesota, he served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve for six years as a mechanic. Rollie was a city bus driver for the MTC, school bus driver for Medicine Lake Lines and a Minneapolis Star Tribune truck driver for 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and shared his love of hunting, fishing, boating, berry picking, and up north adventures with his children and grandchildren. In his retirement years, he and his wife Gail spent summers at Pine Mountain Lake enjoying time with family and friends, and took many winter trips to Florida. His quiet strength, sense of humor, unconditional love, and big smile will be missed by many. Rollie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gail; his children: Vicki (George) Kemp and Mike (Doreen) Larson; grandchildren: Aaron (Vanessa), Christine, Brent, Ryan, and Sarah. Also survived by siblings: Carol (Fred) Dickey and Willie Larson; in-laws: Kathleen and Steven Tusa, Helen and Lee Swenson, Maxine and Marvin Nelson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. A visitation celebrating Rollies life will be held at the David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 Wayzata Blvd E, Wayzata, MN, from 2 to 4 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2015. Memorial Service to be held later. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in memory and honor of Roland Larson may be sent to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge (which provides free lodging for cancer patients in long-term treatment), 411 2nd St. NW, Rochester, MN 55901, or your favorite charity. Death: July 11, 2015
