Rosemary "Rosie" Scovell
Stephan
January 12, 1955 – December 10, 2025
Rosemary Scovell Stephan (age 70) passed away unexpectedly on
Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at home in Plymouth, MN. She was born
January 12, 1955, to Hugh and Juanita (Weatherly) Scovell. She was
predeceased by her parents; her sister, Sandra Camp (and Sandy's
children, Karen and Mike); her brother, Jerry Scovell; and the two great
loves of her life: her companion, Vinton "Pudge" Likes, in 2004, and her
husband, Charles "Chuck" Stephan, in 2019.
Rosie was a thoughtful and kind sister, aunt, and friend whose quiet
generosity touched many lives. A retired occupational therapist, she
continued to share her knowledge and care with others long after her formal
career ended. A former Persian cat breeder, she later found joy in caring for
her tetra fish. Rosie was fiercely independent and active, completing most of
her own DIY projects (painting, flooring, and deck repair) and lovingly
tending to her beautiful gardens, Christmas cacti, and orchids. For years,
Rosie hosted deck parties with live music. She was an avid thrift shopper
(especially on Tuesdays for the senior discount), a dedicated bargain
hunter, and a regular blood and platelet donor. Rosie delighted in LED lights
for her garden and deck, game days with friends and family, and Christmas
village houses and animatronics. Each year, she lovingly baked several
varieties of Christmas cookies, a tradition many came to cherish. Rosie
hosted family gatherings and accommodated the needs of various family
members and friends. This time of year, she will especially be remembered
for her love of Christmas movies and special family times.
Rosie is survived by her sisters, Kathy Tormanen, Bobbi Butler, and Susan
Palmer; her nephews, Ray (Temira) Butler, Tim (Sarah) Scovell, and Ronnie
Scovell; and her niece, Sarah Butler. She is also survived by 11
great-nieces and nephews, as well as many friends and former coworkers.
A memorial gathering is being planned for the spring. We encourage you to
honor Rosie's kindness and giving spirit by donating to a charity of your own
choosing.
