Ruben Hammerback Obituary
Hammerback, Ruben Charles Edward age 86 of Minnetonka. Born November 12, 1920 in Eagle Point Township, MN and died October 23, 2007 in New Hope. Ruben was an aviation machinist's mate 2nd class (T) USNR Ranger during WWII. Worked 32 years at Lyndale Automotive as a mechanic. When Lyndale Automotive sold out Ruben became a retired doctor of motors for more than 20 years. He was an avid sportsman and loved to fix most anything to help his family & friends. Ruben is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Dorothy; parents, Edward and Clara (Stavig) Hammerbank; infant sister, Ruby; sister, Berniece. Survived by son, Harvey (Sharin) of Watertown, MN; twin daughters, Judy Hammerback of Edina and Joy (DelRoy) Matthews of Lake Chelan, WA; and daughters, Darlene (Allen) Myers of Lincoln, NE; and Dotty Nielsen of Minnetonka; sisters, Lila Gerdts, Clara McLeod; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Monday 10:30 AM at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata. Visitation Sunday 4-6 PM at the funeral home. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
