Ryan O'Hare Obituary Ryan William O'Hare, 46, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away on September 14, 2024. Born and raised in Northbrook, IL, Ryan attended elementary and high school there. He pursued higher education at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, where he graduated with a B.S. in Biology and played violin in the university orchestra. He continued his education at the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa, earning his medical degree.
Ryan completed his four-year residency in psychiatry at the University of Minnesota Hospital. After his residency, he stayed in Minnesota, where he practiced medicine and built a beautiful home and full life with his husband, Matthew. Ryan worked at various hospitals in Minneapolis, most recently at North Memorial Health Robbinsdale Hospital, where he truly enjoyed his work serving his patients. He was a dedicated psychiatrist, often working long hours to ensure his patients received the care they needed.
Ryan had a passion for traveling with his husband, exploring the world and learning about different countries traditions, customs, and art. His other interests included classical music, trivia games, musicals, show tunes, fine dining, movies, and even gambling. He made many friends and touched countless lives with his care, sense of humor, and compassion, both as a friend and as a psychiatrist. He lived his life with gusto and grace.
Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leona and William O'Hare, and Lillie-Pearl and Paul Helm; as well as his uncle, John Helm. He is survived by his loving husband, Matthew Danko Chmielewski; his parents, Michael and Carol O'Hare; his brother, Damon O'Hare; and his aunts and uncles, Richard and Judy Helm, and David and Jean Helm. He also leaves behind his cousins, Amanda Helm and Rebecca Helm Wilson (Travis) and their three children, and Nathan Helm and Stephan Helm (Beth) and their two children. Additionally, he is survived by his in-laws, Terrence and Elizabeth Chmielewski.
A celebration of Ryan's life, including brunch, will be held on October 5th at 11:30am at Lafayette Club at 2800 Northview Rd, Minnetonka Beach, MN, 55361. Immediately following brunch will be a memorial service at a private home, address to follow.
