Obituary

Sally Schmitt Obituary Sally Ann Schmitt of Deephaven, died on Feb. 27, 2020, happily indebted to her friends and family for many years of much love and conversation. Her 40 year copywriting career in the Twin Cities included stints at Fingerhut, Studio One, Carlson Marketing Group, and Penn Garritano, with a few years of self-employment before, during and after. When she wasnt writing, Sally exercised her creative skills as a cook, a baker, a VW "bug" restorer, a gardener, and an amateur interior designer. She left behind many projects including a cookbook, novel, and the ongoing renovation of her lovely home. She was always a charming and witty conversationalist, as well as a fierce critic of social injustice and bad design. Sally was preceded in death by her mother and father, Kay and Norman Schmitt; as well as by her long-time creative partner, best friend and fiance, Rick Lemons. In addition to a well-loved extended family of relatives and friends, Sally is survived by her favorite sisters, Susan (Fred) Fischer, Cass (Bill) Ruff, and Ann Sinclair, as well as her brother, Chris (Sara) Schmitt, and all their good-looking, above-average kids - Michael, Christopher, Jack, Isaac and Eliza. Arrangements for a memorial service will be forthcoming. Sally specifically requested that memorial gifts be made to Habitat for Humanity, your local SPCA shelter, a food pantry in your community, or your favorite school.
