Obituary

Sally Wimsatt Obituary Age 83, of Plymouth, passed away February 16, 2016. Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Modie OGara, and brother, Tom OGar. Sally was born in Sedalia, Missouri and grew up in Sedalia and Kansas City, Missouri. She attended St. Teresas Academy in Kansas City and then majored in chemistry and mathematics at the College of St. Teresa (now Avila University). After college, she moved to Palo Alto, California, where she worked at Stanford Research Institute running what was at the time the only computer system on the West Coast. Later, she returned to Kansas City and married Pete Wimsatt. She raised four children before returning to work, initially as a volunteer with Hennepin County Juvenile Court Services, and later in the IT department at Hennepin County and then the St. Paul Companies until her retirement. Sally died peacefully in her sleep early on Tuesday, February 16 th. Sally is survived by children Pete Jr (wife, Karen) of Mound MN, Dan (fianc, Kathy Davidson) of Indian Wells, CA, Steve (wife, Sandy) of Encinitas CA, and Carol, of Wayzata MN, as well as five grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Brooke, Katie and Eric Wimsatt. Sally was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed traveling, both to visit her children and grandchildren in California, as well as more extensive international trips with her daughter, Carol. A competitive bridge player in her earlier years, Sally loved to engage her grandchildren in games of all types, and loved to share stories over a glass of white wine. Sally had a quick wit, was always happy to see you, was a wonderful Mom and will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 20 th at David Lee Funeral Home in Wayzata, 1220 E Wayzata Blvd, from 1-2 PM with a memorial service at 2 PM. Donations may be sent to the Alzheimers Association alz.org.
