Sandy Cooney Obituary Cooney, Sandra A. (Cannefax), age 65,of Prospect, Kentucky passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville with her family by her side. She had suffered a number of illnesses for many years, but her sudden loss was unexpected.She was born at Fort Snelling, MN and is formerly from Arlington, VA and Plymouth, MN.Preceding her in death were her parents, Warren and Esther Cannefax.Sandy was the beloved wife of John "Jack" Cooney for 43 years and the mother of Chris Rivera (Stephen) and John Cooney (Anna) and grandmother of Evan Rivera. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert "Bob" and John "Jack" Cannefax.>A person with wide interests, Sandys principal goal in life was to be a nurturing, guiding and loving mother and grandmother. In this, she was eminently successful. She had a strong religious faith and belief in "doing the right thing." Among her joys were bridge, genealogy, history, cooking and conversation. Sandy had served as President, Womens Jaycees; Vice President, Parent Teacher Organization; Vice President, Youth Baseball Association and in many other capacities.Her spirit could light up a room and she was often requested to regale friends with her library of stories and jokes. She was quick to say "hello", meet with anyone and everyone, truly listen and often offer new insight.Memorial service 11:30 AM, Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel, with reception to follow.
