Sara Johnson Obituary Sara Johnson died at her home in Winnebago, MN under the care of hospice on Monday, February 21, 2022, after a two-year battle with cancer. Sara Jane (Metzinger) Johnson was born on June 29, 1948, the daughter of Emil (Sonny) and Eloise (Whitney) Metzinger of South St. Paul, MN. Sara graduated with Honors from South St. Paul High School in 1966, and she attended St. Cloud State University and graduated with Honors in 1970 with a degree in French. Sara taught French in the Wayzata Public School District for thirty-five years, retiring in 2006. After retiring, she continued to substitute teach and assist with academic testing. She was addressed as "Madame" by her students at Wayzata West Jr. High School and Wayzata Sr. High School. Sara was most proud of Wayzata Wests Variety Shows which she directed for seventeen years featuring many students, teachers and parents, some of whom danced with her in "Saras Ladies." She loved to dance. She was also very proud of the seventeen trips to France she organized for her students and families. Sara is survived by her husband, Dean Johnson of Winnebago, her son, Jim (Kortney) Esper of Crystal, MN, her daughter, Jenny (Kody) Gallagher of Delano, MN, and her grandson, Hugh Gallagher. A Celebration of Life open house for Sara will be held on Friday, March 25, from 5:00-7:00 pm at David Lee Funeral Home in Wayzata, MN.
