Sharon Mae Skytte was born in Buffalo, Minnesota on January 4, 1939, to Edwin and Mabel Holmquist – the youngest of eight children. Their family was a loving home where God was honored. Sharon was raised and attended school in Buffalo and then went to the University of Minnesota for a Dental Hygiene degree. She married Stanley Skytte in 1962. God blessed them with three precious children – Kirstin Mae, Eric John, and Ingrid Ann. They raised their family in Wayzata, Minnesota.
Sharon’s life was lived with the emphasis on faith, family, and friends.
Sharon’s faith life began at the cradle, lovingly shown by parents and older siblings. Hers was a 2 Timothy 3:14-15 experience: “continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” This grew to a personal acceptance of Jesus’ plan of salvation. Important areas of participation were in music (both church and community), Bible studies (church, Bible Study Fellowship, Community Bible Study), serving as Deaconess, in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, women’s group, and Stephen Ministry involvement.
Caring for her family and home was of high importance, joy, and privilege. God was central for the family of five and they were blessed by His care. The enduring connection of Sharon’s extended family was a continual strengthening source.
Sharon had many dear friends who enriched her life in ways of shared interests, encouragements, companionship, fun, and humor. Being with each one of them was a gift.
Sharon had a rich heritage of a godly family – they loved and cared for her and shaped her life.
