Obituary

Sheila Bakken Obituary 80 years young, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 1, 2021, surrounded by family. Sheila was born November 5, 1940 in Michigan, North Dakota. After graduating from high school in 1958, she moved to Minneapolis where she went to business school and became a legal secretary. In 1958, Sheila also met the love of he life, Allan Bakken. They were married for 61 wonderful years, and together they had two children. Sheila loved nature, animals, traveling to many destinations around the world, cooking, canning, reading, knitting and going on walks. What Sheila enjoyed the most was spending time with family and friends. Her times spent with Allan and family at their condo in Puerto Rico and cabin on Sylvan Lake in Brainerd were priceless to her. Sheila was the matriarch of her family who will be greatly missed by her countless cherished friends and family. Her love, kindness, and impact will live forever in our hearts. Survivors include Sheilas beloved husband, Allan; daughter Darla (Chuck) Hines and son Grant Bakken; cherished grandchildren Matthew and Megan Hines, Olivia Steffenhaugen, Caitlyn and Logan Bakken, and "bonus" grandchild Megan Hinze; brothers Richard Hall and Phillip Foss and sister Mary Rothmann; and many sister & brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Sheila cherished red cardinals and monarch butterflies. If you see one, please think of her. The family invites you to a service to remember Sheila on August 18, 2021, at St. Philip the Deacon, 17205 County Road 6, Plymouth, MN 55447. There will be a visitation at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., followed by a lunch at the church. In lieu in of flowers, memorials are preferred, and they will be split between her favorite charities.
